Park Ridge had to battle back all game Saturday, but its final comeback couldn’t have been timed any better.

Senior shortstop Cailyn Lavender had a two-run, walk-off single with two outs to deliver Park Ridge a 10-9 come-from-behind victory over Scotch Plains-Fanwood at the Villa Walsh softball tournament.

“The emotion was relief,” Cindy Turner said. “We dug ourselves kind of into a hole. … But these girls, they put in a tremendous effort. They stuck with it.”

Lavender finished with three RBI, including the game-winning single, which fell into right field. Amanda Confreda added three RBI and Samantha Vradenburg got the win.

“The girls were relieved [at the end],” Turner said. “It was a super, super cold day.”
